What is a tag
Tags are short descriptions entered by users that can be used to summarize or draw attention to threads that could go unnoticed otherwise. In practice, they mostly serve to amuse.
So why enter tags?
Why not?
How do I use them?
First, you'll need javascript enabled. Enter a short word or phrase into the box labeled "Enter Tag" at the top of a thread. Press enter. Congrats, you've tagged something.
What are the restrictions on tags?
- 30 characters long or less. (20 characters while a story is in the queue)
- Only letters, numbers, spaces, dashes and underscores are allowed.
- Having the same word repeated 3 or more times is not allowed.
What makes a good tag?"'
- Something amusing
- Something witty
- Something dumb
- Typos in headlines
- Pointless memes
- Your mom
Why can't I see my tag?
At least two people need to enter a tag before it will appear. If someone else didn't match your tag, it probably wasn't very good anyway. If you are the second person to tag the same thing, you'll see who originally tagged it.
Why not just have a set of fixed tags?
Because that would be boring and lame.
Some assclown hurt my feelings with a tag. How do I get rid of it?
Tag it with a minus in front of it. For instance, to untag "your mom", you would enter "-your mom". If enough people untag something, it will disappear.
